Services will be rendered in a professional manner consistent with accepted ethical standards of the counseling profession. Therapy sessions are typically 50 minutes long. My fee is $100.00 per session, payable at the session. If you prefer a 90-minute session, the fee is $130.00.
I charge $100.00 for a 55 minute session. I am not an insurance provider. If you wish to submit a bill to your provider, I will be glad to provide one for you. You can submit to your insurance company yourself and in some cases may qualify for reimbursement. If so, the transaction will be between you and the insurance company, they will direct payment to you, so you will still need to pay out-of-pocket for sessions.
Why I have chosen to not be an insurance provider:
Insurance companies dictate the level of care and have access to all information regarding diagnosis and treatment. Insurance companies require a diagnosis, and most clients do not qualify for a mental illness or disorder. Once that information goes to the insurance company, there is no way to control confidentiality. Many clients are uncomfortable with the possibility of multiple people having access to their personal mental health information. Insurance companies limit the number of sessions and dictate the treatment methods. Often the number of sessions allowed by insurance are not adequate for the issues the client is working on. Not involving insurance companies frees the client and therapist to collaborate on the length and mode of treatment that works best for the client. The amount of time and work involved for a therapist to collect from an insurance company greatly increases overhead costs. By not using insurance, my fees can be kept lower.
